Death penalty repeal (HB 455) clears committee in 11-6 vote. The latest attempt to repeal the death penalty in New Hampshire cleared its 1st hurdle on, as the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee voted 11-6 to pass HB 455. Gov. Chris Sununu said on Wednesday that he plans to veto any repeal measure if it lands on his desk, just as he did last year. (See June 21, 2018) “I stand with police and I stand with victims,” he said. The House vote on the bill could come as early as Feb. 27, after which it will move over to the Senate if it passes.
