An Iredell County jury today sentenced Bernard Lamp to death.
Lamp, 56, White, was convicted Feb. 5 of 1st-degree murder for beating and strangling Bonnie Lou Irvine to death in March 2008. Judge Ed Wilson read the jury's recommendation. Although it is termed a recommendation, Wilson is legally obligated to impose the sentence handed down by the jury. Lamp and Irvine met via a Craigslist ad Lamp placed, according to testimony.
