USA - Ohio. A 3-judge panel has sentenced Denny Obermiller, 29, white, to death

A 3-judge panel has sentenced Denny Obermiller, 29, white, to death. He had waived a jury trial and entered a plea of guilty. On Jan. 25, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judges Shirley Strickland Saffold, Judge Timothy McGinty, and Judge John Sutula found Obermiller guilty on all counts. He had been charged with aggravated murder, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, rape, aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence, theft, attempted aggravated arson, and burglary. The investigation revealed that on or about Aug. 11, 2010 Obermiller strangled his grandparents, Donald Schneider, 60, and Candace Schneider, 61, and stole money from their house. The investigation also revealed that his DNA found at the crime scene confirmed a sexual assault on his grandmother.
