Clark County Common Pleas Court Judge Richard O'Neill overrides jury, and sentences Charles Cunningham, 39, black, to LWOP (life without the possibility of parole). A jury recommended the death penalty on May 10 (see) after finding him guilty of killing, on October 4, 2008, his former girlfriend Jessica Serna, 27, and a friend of the woman, Heidi Shook, 28. Defense attorneys had argued that the murder was not premeditated, it was an act of rage.
