USA - Ohio. The Ohio Supreme Court has overturned the death sentence of Willie Herring

The Ohio Supreme Court has overturned the death sentence of Willie Herring, 36, Black. At issue in the court’s 4-3 decision was the lack of evidence presented at sentencing about Herring’s chaotic childhood. The court’s decision sent the case back to Mahoning County court for resentencing. Herring received the death penalty for the triple slaying during a bar robbery at the Newport Inn on April 30, 1996. The court's decision affirms the February 11, 2011 (see) judgment of the 7th District Court of Appeals.
