U.S. District Court Judge James Carr overturned the death sentence of Quisi Bryan, 44, Black, because prosecutors improperly excluded a black woman from the jury. A jury convicted Bryan, 44, of aggravated murder and recommended that he be sentenced to death in 2000 for the June 25, 2000 fatal shooting of Cleveland Officer Wayne Leon, 32, White, during a traffic stop. Bryan didn't dispute during trial that he'd shot Leon. Bryan is on death row for Leon's murder, plus 47 years for other crimes. In January of 2007, Bryan pleaded guilty in connection with four sex assaults on women.
