Billy Don Alverson, 39, black, was executed. Alverson was convicted of 1st-degree murder and sentenced to die for the Feb, 26, 1995, death of 30-year-old Richard Yost, the night manager of a convenience store. Alverson was 1 of 4 men convicted of 1st-degree murder in Yost's death. 2 of the 3 Alverson's co-defendants, Darwin Brown and Michael L. Wilson were also sentenced to death. Alverson becomes the 1st condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Oklahoma and the 95th overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1990.
