USA - Oklahoma. Donald Lee Gilson, 48, white, was executed

Donald Lee Gilson, 48, white, was executed today at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary. Gilson was convicted in the 1995 killing of Shane Coffman, white, his girlfriend's 8-year-old son. His girlfriend, Bertha Jean Coffman, entered an Alford plea in the case and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. An autopsy showed 2 fractures to the boy's skull, a tooth missing from his right jaw and fractures to his collarbone, shoulder blades, ribs, legs and spine. Gilson becomes the 2nd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Oklahoma and the 90th overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1990. Gilson becomes the 27th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1163rd overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
