USA - Oklahoma. House passes death penalty for first-time child rapists
April 28, 2025 - Oklahoma. SB 599. House passes bill making death penalty an option for first-time child rapists. A bill that would make the death penalty or life without parole a possible punishment for 1st-time convictions of child sex abuse has passed the Oklahoma House 80-8, with bipartisan support. Current state law allows those convicted of certain sex crimes against children under 14 to be sentenced to death or life without parole—but only after a second offense. The Senate passed the bill on April 3. The bill now goes to Governor Kevin Stitt.
