A York County jury sentenced Hector Morales, 28, hispanic, to death for the July 16, 2009 murder of Ronald Simmons Jr., 42. That same day, Simmons was to testify against Morales at a preliminary hearing on drug charges. In June 2009, Simmons, who had been arrested by county drug task force agents, agreed to set up Morales in a sting. Common Pleas Judge Gregory Snyder scheduled formal sentencing for March 1.
