Common Pleas Judge Rita Hathaway sentenced Rahmael Holt to death. The judge upheld the November 14, 2019 (see) death sentence of a Westmoreland County jury. The jury convicted Holt, 31, Black, of shooting and killing police Officer Brian Shaw after an attempted traffic stop on Nov. 17, 2017. According to prosecutors, Holt was pulled over for a traffic stop by New Kensington officer Brain Shaw. During that stop, Holt fled on foot before shooting the 25-year-old officer in the chest.
