A Leon County jury sentenced Jerry Duane Martin to death. Martin was found guilty of capital murder early last week for his escape from the Wynne Unit on Sept. 24, 2007, which resulted in the death of TDCJ officer Susan Canfield. State District Court Judge Kenneth H. Keeling set a Dec. 17 date for confirmation.
