USA - Texas. A Randall County jury sentenced Brent Ray Brewer, 39, to death

A Randall County jury sentenced Brent Ray Brewer, 39, to death for the 2nd time. Brewer was given the death penalty for the April 26, 1990, slaying of Robert Laminack, 66. Brewer and a companion, Kristie Lynn Nystrom, approached Laminack and asked for a ride to the Salvation Army. Brewer stabbed Laminack to death on the way and stole his wallet, containing $140. Nystrom, 41, is serving a life sentence. A different Randall County jury in 1991 convicted Brewer of capital murder and sentenced him to death. The U.S. Supreme Court overturned Brewer's sentence in April 2007, finding that the lower court didn't instruct the jury to consider his mental history.
