Harris County judge George Powell has signed an order declaring death-row exoneree Alfred Dewayne Brown, now 37, Black, 'actually innocent.' The order makes Brown, who was exonerated in 2015, eligible for compensation by the state of Texas. The move could clear the way to nearly $2 million in state compensation for the time Brown spent wrongfully imprisoned (12 years) for the 2003 slaying of Houston Police Officer Charles Clark.
