USA - Texas. Carnell Petetan' death sentence overturned

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals on Wednesday vacated the 2014 death sentence of Carnell Petetan in the 2012 death of his estranged wife, ruling a McLennan County jury was wrong to decide Petetan is not intellectually disabled. Petetan, now 45, Black, will be returned to McLennan County for a new sentencing hearing. Petetan was convicted of breaking into his estranged wife’s Lake Shore Drive apartment and shooting her in front of her daughter and 2 men who rode from South Texas with him in September 2012.
