James Edward Martinez, 34, white was executed tonight at the Texas prison in Huntsville. Martinez, was condemned for the Sept. 21, 2000 fatal shootings of Sandra Walton, 29, whom he dated briefly, and her 19-year-old friend Michael Humphreys. Martinez becomes the 11th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Texas and the 434rd overall since the state resumed capital punishment on December 7, 1982. Morris becomes the 18th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1154rd overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
