The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has affirmed a trial court finding declaring Pedro Solis Sosa ineligible for the death penalty because of Intellectual Disability. The Court resentenced Sosa to life in prison without parole. Sosa, 65, Hispanic, was sentenced to death on January 7, 1985 for the November 4, 1983 murder, during a bank robbery, of Ollie F. Childress Jr., 55, a deputy sheriff.
