Utah House panel advances bill to end death penalty. House Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Committee voted 7-4 to send HB379 to the House floor after an abbreviated debate. The bill would ban the state from seeking the death penalty for aggravated murder committed after May 7, 2018.
