Vernon Brown died by injection at the Eastern Reception Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre for the 1986 murder of Janet Perkins, a 9-year-old schoolgirl. Brown, 51, was pronounced dead at 2:35 a.m.. Brown was later convicted and given the death penalty a 2nd time for killing 19-year-old Synetta Ford in 1985. In his confession, Brown blamed his use of the drug PCP for worsening the blackouts he suffered as a result of a childhood head injury.
