William Sallie has again been sentenced to death for the 1990 slaying of his father-in-law in south Georgia's Bacon County. Jurors in Houston County Superior Court decided on the death penalty Monday for Sallie, who was sentenced to death in 1991 but appealed and won a retrial. Sallie, 35, of Peoria, Ill., was found guilty of murder last week in the March 29, 1990, shooting death of John Lee Moore, 49. The Georgia Supreme Court overturned Sallie's original conviction and death sentence in 1998 because his defense lawyer at the first trial also served as law clerk for the judges in the Waycross Judicial Circuit, where that trial was held.
