WOMAN ON JAPANESE DEATH-ROW ASKS FOR RETRIAL

a Japanese housewife sentenced to death for killing four people and poisoning 63 with arsenic-laced curry more than a decade ago asked for a retrial, a court official said. The lawyer for Masumi Hayashi, a 48-year-old mother of four, said the defence team had submitted fresh material including additional testimony by Hayashi's husband and daughter to back their claim she is innocent.
