ZAMBIA: KEITH MUKATA SENTENCED TO DEATH

The Lusaka High Court has sentenced Chilanga UPND Member of Parliament Keith Mukata to death by hanging after finding him guilty of murder.
And Mr. Mukata’s co accused Charmaine Musonda has been acquitted due to lack of evidence.
In this matter Mr. Mukata and his co-accused Charmaine Musonda where arrested on May 6th, 2017 for allegedly shooting to death Mr. Mukata’s security guard Namakambwa Kalilakwenda.
Lusaka High Court Judge Susan Wanjelani said there was overwhelming evidence that Mr. Mukanta killed his security guard.
In mitigation Mr. Mukata through his lawyer Milner Katolo asked for a lesser sentence other than death as he is a first offender and has too many responsibilities.
But judge Wanjelani said there was sufficient evidence showing that Mr. Mukata had intention to kill his security guard.
This was when she delivered judgement in a fully parked court room sending sympathizers into wailing.
