ZAMBIA: KILLER FATHER TO HANG

The Lusaka High Court sentenced a man of Chibombo district to death for killing his two children using a pesticide on grounds that he was disturbed by the dissolution of his marriage.
High Court judge Chalwe Mchenga jailed Julius Mucheki after finding him guilty of murdering his children, Julius and Erika, on September 17, 2013 by poisoning their tea.
Mucheki, who is charged with two counts of murder, killed his children because he did not want them to suffer as a result of his marriage dissolution.
“I have considered whether the evidence discloses any extenuating circumstances in favour of the accused person… I find none. I, therefore, sentence you to death by hanging,” Mr Justice Mchenga said in the judgment.
