Zhong Chongming, who was found guilty of robbing a local bank and illegally possessing firearms and ammunition, was sentenced to death and executed in Linyi, in east China's Shandong Province.
A native of Jiangsu Province, Zhong robbed a police officer of his gun on November 4, 2000 in Linyi City. On June 18 this year, Zhong rushed with the gun into a branch of the Bank of China in the city, and while trying to rob the bank, shot two employees, who sustained serious and minor injuries respectively.
