12 drug traffickers were executed by firing squad in Vietnam. The news of their execution was given by the communist party newspaper. The twelve, and another seven condemned to life in prison, were part of drug trafficking ring held responsible for the importation of 25 kg of heroin, nearly 5 kg of opium and 80 methamphetamine pills in two years since 1998.
