A 37-year-old woman was sentenced to death by a court in Combaitore for murdering three persons, including her husband and mother-in-law, in 1998. According to the prosecution Rasathi alias Dhanalakshmi, enraged over her husband's 'illicit affair' with a neighbour, hacked him to death with a sickle and killed her 75-year-old mother-in-law in a similar manner in their house. She then went to the neighbour's house and attacked her husband's alleged paramour and her two sons and a daughter. The neighbour's 15-year-old son died on the spot.
