a Bagerhat court, in Bangladesh, sentenced a man to death for killing his wife in 2005. Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Rezaul Karim handed down the verdict to Shamim Kazi, a trader.
According to the prosecution, Shamim strangled his wife Kajol Begum during an altercation over dowry at their home at Khadda village in Bagerhat Sadar upazila on the midnight of September 28 in 2005.
Neighbours caught him red-handed while he tried to escape. He was later handed over to the police who filed a case the next day.
