A bandit named Ali Dozd [Ali, the Thief] or Ali Saddam [after notorious Iraqi President Saddam Husayn] was hanged in public in Anduhjerd. The head of Kerman's Justice Department, Gholam Hoseyn Heydari, said the convict had caused extreme fear and anxiety among the public by kidnapping, raping and murdering women in various regions including Golbaf. Heydari said the implementation of the sentence pleased the noble people of the region. Faqir Qanbarzehi, was hanged inside the prison courtyard. He had been convicted in Kerman on charges of banditry. His hanging took place inside the prison for security reasons, Heydari said.
