A British businessman and his Singaporean assistant wanted in Singapore in connection with a grisly double murder intend to fight extradition from Australia.
The Melbourne Magistrates Court was told that Michael McCrea, 44, and Audrey Ong, 22, would seek to avoid being extradited at a four-day hearing set for November, the Australian Associated Press (AAP) said.
The defendants made no application for bail during a brief hearing. Convicted murderers face the death penalty in Singapore.
"They are wanted by Singapore police in connection with the case of the double murder at Orchard Towers," a spokesman for the city state's police force told Reuters, declining to say what charges the two suspects might face.
