A case of a man executed although suffering from a mental illness. Hussein bin Hussein Al-Ma'mari was convicted of murder and sentenced to death in December 1998 despite reports that he had been diagnosed as schizophrenic. His death sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court in June 2001 and approved by President Ali Abdullah in August. Hussein bin Hussein Al-Ma'mari was executed in August.
