a civil court in Milan, Italy, gave political asylum to Senegalese national Ahmed Dondo who risked being sentenced to death in Sudan. 
Dondo has been charged with a murder which was allegedly committed during fighting amongst Arab and African communities. Sudan provides the death penalty for murder. In order to escape arrest Dondo fled to Malpensa airport from Sudan. Once in Milan he requested status as political refugee, which had initially been denied.
