A collection of signatures against the death penalty was presented to the President of Italy, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, at the end of a meeting with Archbishop Piovanelli organised by the Florentine church to mark the year of the Jubilee. "You know wel what my opinion on the issue is": are the few words expressed by the head of State containing the promise to continue to push for the removal of capital punishment from the juridical systems of many countries.
