A convicted murderer who confessed to his crimes will get a new trial after the California Supreme Court decided that Omar Dent III was improperly prevented from defending himself. Dent was convicted of robbing and killing Byung Kim, in August 1988. The high court unanimously reversed the death sentence and sent the case back to the trial court.
