A court in Bangladesh sentenced to death in absentia Salauddin Akhter for killing his sister-in-law. According to the court, Salauddin strangulated Selina Akhter, wife of his expatriate elder brother, in her rented house in Narayanganj after she refused to give him Tk 2,000 on December 29, 2000.
