A court in India's capital, Delhi, sentenced to death a former politician who shot his wife and burned her dismembered body in a restaurant oven.
Sushil Sharma was convicted of murdering Naina Sahni, whom he suspected of infidelity, in July 1995.
Police had retrieved charred body parts from the oven of the Delhi restaurant.
The court sentenced restaurant owner Keshav Kumar to seven years in jail - which he has now already served - for trying to destroy evidence.
Three other defendants who were accused of giving shelter to Mr Sharma after the crime were earlier acquitted through lack of evidence.
Sharma shot his wife after suspecting her of having an affair and then cut the body up into pieces, the court heard. He took the body to the upmarket Baghiya restaurant and put it into the clay oven, or tandoor, with Kumar's help.
Police raided the restaurant after a tip-off. Sharma, who headed the youth wing of the Congress party, was arrested in the southern city of Bangalore a few days after the murder.
Death sentences are rarely carried out in India. Reports on television said Sharma was planning to appeal against the sentence.
