A court in Pabna, Bangladesh, sentenced to death Faraz Ali of Ilshimari village in Iswardi after convicting him of killing his wife. According to the prosecution, Faraz Ali killed Bulu Khatun for dowry at his house on July 14, 1999. The victim's mother Romela Bewa filed a case against Faraz Ali, his father Mohon Sardar and mother Sona Banu. After investigation police also submitted charge sheet against them. After examining 16 witnesses, District and Sessions Judge M Mofijul Islam pronounced the sentence acquitting the two others.
