Monsef Ali and his cousin Mobarrak Ali of Sukhbilash village in Rangunia, Bangladesh, were sentenced to death by an Additional District and Sessions Court, together with four others, who were sentenced to life imprisonment, for killing two neighbours in Rangunia in 1994. The prosecution said the accused killed neighbours Sufia Begum and her brother Mohammad Farook for failing to repay Tk 50 they borrowed from the accused two weeks previously.
