A court in Pakistan condemned a man to death and 100 lashes for killing his aunt and her one-year-old baby.
The Rawalpindi additional district and sessions judge, Mohammad Sarwar Sidhu, on Thursday, convicted Ghulam Murtaza of axing to death Riffat Zahida, the wife of his paternal uncle, after raping her. Police said that the woman resisted the assault so Murataza killed her and her son, Danish.
Murtaza's father, Javid, who had collected all the evidence against him, said his son had committed the worst kind of barbarism by raping and murdering the woman and the baby. In a separate case, Judge Mian Muhammad Shafi meted out death sentences to a woman and her accomplice for killing her husband.
