A court in the northwestern Rwandan town of Gisenyi sentenced ten ethnic Hutus to death on charges of genocide and other crimes against humanity committed in the town in 1994. Wellars Banzi, one of the 10 sentenced to death, was once an MP and chairman of the MRND (Republican National Movement for Development) in Gisenyi Province, the party in government when the genocide began.
