A Court of Appeal, sitting in Nakuru, Kenya, upheld a decision to send to the gallows Albert Kitur Kimaiyo, a catechist, and Pastor Benedict Wanjala Biketi, for murder. The two had originally been convicted on February 26, 2003. It was alleged that the two jointly murdered James Sirma Kibet in Kitale on June 25, 2002. According to evidence produced in court, the duo had intended to sell a tractor to Kibet but disagreed on the mode of payment. Further evidence indicated that the convicts had confessed before police that they committed the offence. The body was found stashed in a gunny bag and buried in a shallow grave.
