A Delhi court, India, sentenced to death Brijkishore alias Bittu for killing another person by stabbing him 23 times on a road.
"The act of the convict is visualised. It has been extremely brutal, gruesome, callous with full determination in order to leave no chance of survival of the deceased," said Additional Sessions Judge Lal Singh.
It was alleged that Bittu was incensed with the deceased Madan Mohan Lal Verma for removing an unauthorised construction belonging to his father which had come up in a park in the Sukhdev Vihar area. Bittu murdered Verma - Secretary of Sukhdev Vihar House Building Cooperative Society and Sukhdev Vihar Welfare Association - on January 1, 2000.
