The parliament of the Russian internal republic of North Ossetia called for reinstatement of capital punishment in Russia.
"Now is the time to protect the country and its citizens from terrorism in all its manifestations and make it possible for people to live in a protected society and safe country. The operation of agencies that are supposed to assure this must be radically revised," the parliament said in an appeal to Russia's leaders.
"Stronger cooperation between federal law enforcement agencies and regional authorities will make the fighting of all kinds of extremism more effective," it said.
