A Division Bench of the Lahore High Court gave death sentences to Mohammad Ali, Bashir and Abdur Rasheed for killing four people in Pattoki over an old enmity in 1996. The victims, Hafiz Amjad, Mohammad Ismaiel and Iftekhar Ahmad were on their way to mosque for Jumma prayer when Mohammad Ali, Bashir and others opened fire killing them and a pedestranian girl, Abida Shaheen, who happened to be on the spot. Earlier a Special Court headed by Sardar Mashkoor Sindhi had acquitted the accused in the same case.
