A federal judge said a man sentenced to die for the slaying of an elderly couple in Warren must be resentenced because his attorneys did a poor job of representing him. U.S. District Court Judge David D. Dowd Jr. overturned the death sentence against Charles Lorraine, 34, earlier this week and said Lorraine must be resentenced in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court by August. Lorraine was convicted in November 1986 for the murders of Raymond Montgomery, 77, and his wife, Doris, 80, in their Warren home.
