A Harris County jury sentenced Robert Aaron Acuna to death for killing his elderly neighbours last year. Acuna, 18, was convicted of capital murder Friday in the shooting deaths of James Carroll, 75, and his wife, Joyce, 74, in their home, just across the street from Acuna's family home Nov. 12. Acuna was 17 at the time of the murders. Prosecutors offered no explanation for why he killed his neighbors, stole their car and drove to Dallas. After the jurors were individually polled, District Judge Mike Anderson imposed the sentence.
