A Ho Chi Minh City court, Vietnam, imposed a death sentence for murder and robbery on Trang Hoang Thai, 20. He was convicted of the August 2002 murder of a 63-year-old woman whom he tried to rob of jewellery, the Thanh Nien daily reported. It was alleged that Thai gagged and suffocated Nguyen Thi Hai after he broke into her home to steal a gold bracelet and cash. He was apprehended by neighbours as he tried to escape.
