A jury has recommended the death penalty for Calvin Parker, 33, convicted of the Aug. 10, 2000 raping, murdering and mutilating the body of Patricia Gallego, 29. Judge Michael Wellington set a sentencing date of Oct. 7.
Parker was convicted July 17 of 1st-degree murder and three special circumstance allegations.
