A jury that convicted an ex-convict of savagely beating his former girlfriend to death has recommended that he be sentenced to die by lethal injection. Phillip Elmore, 40, will be sentenced on Nov. 19. Licking County Common Pleas Judge Jon Spahr may reject the death penalty and instead sentence Elmore to life in prison. According to trial testimony, Elmore broke into Pamela Annarino home on June 1, 2002, with the intention of killing her because she had ended their relationship.
