A jury took 90 minutes Monday to decide that convicted child molester Jesse Joe Hernandez, 37, should die by injection for beating a 10-month-old boy to death with a flashlight last year while baby-sitting him.
The Dallas County jury found that Mr. Hernandez posed a continuing threat to society and that there were no circumstances to spare his life for the April 11, 2001, slaying of Karlos Borja.
District Judge Mark Nancarrow read Mr. Hernandez's sentence.
