Jason Wheeler was found guilty last Friday of ambushing 3 deputies on Feb. 9, 2005, killing Deputy Wayne Koester, 33, and injuring Deputies Thomas McKane and Bill Crotty.
That sparked a 9-hour manhunt ending with deputies shooting Wheeler and paralyzing him from the chest down.
The judge, if he wants, has 45 days to change the decision.
